When you think of a summer wedding in Milwaukee you probably don’t visualize a dense fog surrounding the city and dangerously black clouds threatening rain, right? Well Violet and Jared’s wedding day had exactly those atmospheric qualities. This brilliant (and beautiful) Bulgarian bride predicted the unpredictable nature of summer in Milwaukee and chose an indoor wedding for that reason. We had talked before the wedding about still wanting to do the wedding party photos outside, no matter the weather conditions, and settled on providing clear umbrellas as the perfect rainy day prop. Those umbrella’s were the perfect addition as the sky opened up and released the rain right after the ceremony. Tim, the newlyweds, golden retriever was probably the wettest of us all – that rain wasn’t going to keep him away from the family portraits! I really loved capturing Violet and Jared’s rainy wedding day.

Bret and Alyssa’s planned their wedding in Milwaukee all the way from their home in Colorado. Milwaukee is has some of the coolest wedding venues and this dazzling affair was split between two of them: Villa Terrace and Cuvee! Raised in the Wisconsin, Alyssa always dreamed of having her wedding at Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum, and this beautiful bride was able to realize that dream with the help of her mother and Meredith of Blue Fancy Events. The day was planned so perfectly, that when we accidentally got locked in Villa Terrace we still had plenty of time for the bride and groom to enjoy their cocktail hour at Cuvee! I tell all of my couples that there is a little hiccup at every wedding – you just never know what it will be, but you want a great team surrounding you to help you push through it. It’s those little hiccups that are often the funniest stories you can laugh about for years to come, and I know that Bret and Alyssa still guffaw about being locked in the gorgeous gardens of Villa Terrace.

Jessica and Steve had the most perfect of summer days for their Rustic Manor 1848 wedding. I fell madly in love with this location as it is the perfect blend of elegant and rustic, plus it has an absolutely insane amount of impossibly perfect photo backdrops. So many personal touches turned the venue into the vision that it became on their wedding day. The bride’s mother grew and arranged many of the flowers that decorated the tabletops, as well as the rosemary that graced each place setting. Wood Violet designed and arranged the wedding party’s flower arrangements as well as that incredible hop covered trellis. My favorite part of the day was Steve and Jessica’s first look, it was so full of anticipation and love. Capturing the pure emotion from that moment had my eyes welling with tears – always the sucker for that kind of love! I always say that the best part of my job is telling the story of love…it’s one hundred percent true.

This wedding has it all: a ceremony in the woods, lots of love, the cutest flower girls (and ringbear!), two brides, and two dresses! April and Rachelle had a sweet and intimate outdoor wedding ceremony at the Riverside Urban Ecology Center. Under the canopy of trees, they shared their vows to each other and their daughter Oralia – everyone was in tears. I was even weeping behind my camera! Nothing gets me more excited on wedding days then the grand reveal of the wedding dress, so you can imagine my delight at having two wedding dresses to capture! Both brides showed off their distinct style with their choices of dresses, and it made for a very shutter happy photographer. Dive in and check it out. Just wait until you see those flower girls – too cute!

Wisconsin had some very strange summer weather, especially near Lake Michigan. The July day that Carrie and Jim got married on the shore of the great lake was no exception – there was fog that turned to blue skies and sunshine, then clouds with sprinkles of rain, and the temperature didn’t know if it wanted to be hot or cold. Of course none of that really matters on the day you marry your true love in front of friends and family. There was laughter, love, and lots of beauty on this wedding on the shore.

Remember the long sun soaked days, green trees, flowers in bloom, and soft warm breezes that September graced us with? Well, there is no better way to ward off that bitter cold Wisconsin fall air then by looking at these warm and inviting images from Bill and Maureen’s summer wedding. The highlight reel of this wedding is quite long and varied, but my absolute favorite moment to photograph was their perfectly timed wedding ceremony. The sun was setting on the other side of the Milwaukee River as these two lovebirds exchanged vows under a lace arbor (exquisitely designed by Stems Cut Flowers). Quite honestly, I could go on gushing all day about this easy breezy warm weather wedding, but I’ll let the photography do the talking.
