Randy loves Kerrie, that much is obvious, and everyone loves Kerrie and Randy. These two sweethearts had the most romantic and intimate backyard wedding at their lakefront home in Pewaukee. Friends and family of the bride and groom lent their skills and talent to pull off this stunning DIY wedding. From the hand collected driftwood, the beautiful floral arrangements, the men’s grooming, hair and make-up, their officiant, that boat, etc., etc., etc., this wedding had touches of love from everyone. I’ve know Kerrie for many years, we first met at the BonTon photo studios, and I loved her from the moment I met her. When she asked me to photograph her and Randy’s wedding day I was simply thrilled! Randy and Kerrie are both a joy to be around and a delight to photograph (could either of them be any more beautiful?!), and I am so happy to share the story of their wedding day.

One of my favorite Milwaukee wedding venues is the Riverside Urban Ecology Center (UEC). I was so thrilled when Caitlin contacted me regarding her and John’s wedding at the UEC. For those who don’t know, the UEC is a natural paradise within the city of Milwaukee that is part of Riverside Park (designed by Frederick Law Olmsted – yes the same as the landscape architect of Central Park in NYC (and many many many more wonderful U.S. parks)!) and houses the eco-friendly “green” building. Caitlin and John share a love of the outdoors so it only made sense to begin their lives together under the canopy of mature trees in Riverside Park. They started their big day with a sweet first look, followed by portraits where their session was photo bombed my monarch butterflies (the nerve!), next a marriage ceremony witnessed by friends and family, and finally the couple celebrated the night away with an enthusiastic dance party. It was a perfect day.

Have I mentioned that fall weddings really have my heart? Well, I love everything about them. Even when the weather seems to be less than ideal there is an indescribable beauty to a drizzly October day. This wedding was particularly special to me since I first met Sean in a darkroom class in college, and then a couple short years later we ended up working at the same photo studio for a local retailer. That’s where our lovely bride, Tristine, enters the picture. Sean and Tristine met, fell in love, and then moved to California. Bye guys, it was nice knowing you (sniffle). After these sweethearts got engaged the greatest email hit my inbox (um, YES! When and where? I’m there!). I met them in Big Sur at the the scene of the engagement and we traipsed along the coast making gorgeous images to document this joyous moment in their lives. But, back to this Farmin’ Betty’s wedding. Tristine is a very talented photo stylist and a lot of attention and curation went into the vendors she chose to make her vision come to life. Feisty Flowers nailed the California meets Wisconsin driftwood and succulent crafted centerpieces. The signature drinks, mason jars (those straws!), perfectly autumn desert table, and his and hers late night snack packs showed both of their personalities in the most captivating yet subtle way. It’s true that I may have an affinity for autumn weddings, an affinity for Sean and Tristine, and I may have an affinity for this fantastic family venue, but it is truly one of my most favorite weddings of all time. Scroll down to see all the love, beauty, and how a destination Wisconsin wedding is done just right.
