Erin and Aaron are planning their wedding from across the country, and wanted their engagement session to be in one of their favorite Wisconsin forests. They chose to have their Kettle Moraine engagement session early in the morning to capitalize on the soft light and so that they could spend their time in the midwest with their families – as they only had a few days to organize many of their wedding plans while in town! Both Erin and Aaron are avid distance runners and it’s no coincidence that we chose this gorgeous trail to highlight their affection for the outdoors. Take a look and see the beauty these two brought to the trail!

I think it’s about time that I share this EPIC Big Sur engagement session since these two are getting married tomorrow. Sean, Tristine, and I go way back to our days of working together at the Bon-Ton photo studio in Milwaukee (where their love affair began). (Actually, I can take knowing Sean back even further as we took a dark room class in college together.) These two have long since relocated to LA, but planned their long distance wedding in their home state of Wisconsin. So, you can imagine how excited I was when these two asked me to be their wedding photographer! Sean asked Tristine to marry him at the Bixby Creek Bridge in Big Sur, so we thought it would only be fitting to have their engagement session at the scene of the proposal, and a few other insanely gorgeous locations. We had so much fun climbing hills, getting wet by the surf, and taking in all the views that Big Sur has to offer. Can’t wait until the wedding!

These two were just a treat to photograph. Our spring here in Wisconsin was pretty late, and having scheduled this session months in advance, we had no idea how mother nature was going to behave. The day of our shoot the weather was perfect, although the blooms were a few weeks behind, I have to say that I really like the way the mostly bare and brown branches lend such a neutral background to the images. Here are a few of my favorite images from our session.

Well now, I think I may be the luckiest photographer around because this Friday I get to photograph the wedding of this beautiful couple. These two look like they belong to each other so much that on the way to our second location of our photo session, a taxi driver stopped his vehicle to ask Daniel and Lissyvette if they were married and then quickly quipped that they should be because they look absolutely perfect together. I couldn’t agree more. The way these two look at each other is enough to melt your heart. It’s just so utterly obvious that these two were meant to get married. Take a peek at what is just their beginning.

The day I photographed Julia, it was hot. Hotter than hot. Even the lake selfishly kept it’s refreshing breeze. We somehow managed to keep cool (well, cool enough) to make this senior photo session look like a breath of fresh air. Julia was up for anything; her sweet nature and easy disposition made my job even more enjoyable. It was the perfect note to end my senior photo season on.

Carly and her parents drove into Milwaukee from Fort Atkinson for her senior portrait session, and I took them on a tour of some of my favorite locations to photograph. The weather was perfect and we took full advantage of the beautiful sunlight. One of Carly’s outfits was her prom dress – I LOVE photographing big voluminous dresses! Carly showed me some of her best moves to get that dress twirling. Definitely a highlight from the shoot. A gifted flutist, she also plays the piccolo in her school’s marching band. It was such a joy capturing the multiple talents of this bright beauty.

There is a lot that goes into a photo shoot, but one of the most important elements is hair and make-up. Girls want to feel their best when they’re standing in front of a camera, especially when the photos being taken are for momentous occasions. We were so fortunate to be able to book my dear friend (the super talented) Gina Barrington to do (our mama-to-be) Anne’s hair and make-up for the photo-shoot. Gina is co-owner of Wide Eyed Beauty – Ladies, check them out. There is nothing quite like Wide Eyed Beauty in the Milwaukee/Wisconsin area – they are an exclusive on-site full service hair, make-up and nail team. Full disclosure: Gina did my hair and make-up for my wedding in New Mexico last year.
For her maternity shots, Anne wanted a more natural location and I knew just the place to take her. This secret location happened to be in full bloom of Queen Anne’s Lace, a favorite of Anne’s, and the trails that led into the woods were lined with wild flowers. I am so happy that I was able to capture a few beautiful moments with this radiant beauty! Take a look for yourself – this momma-to-be just glows.

Senior photos have turned a major corner the past few years. Long gone are the days of a perfectly posed, stiff, and boring studio portrait. Seniors want to express themselves in their end of high school (woot!) portraits, and Danielle is no exception. This girl is bright, beautiful, and bold! I had a blast photographing Danielle in her prom dress, her favorite colourgaurd costume, and her super cute blue peplum top. Take a look at the future’s next computer science star!
