What could be more lovely than a rainy spring day at the Walker’s Point Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co? Quite frankly, not much. Savanah and Tyler’s entire wedding day was located in the heart of Milwaukee’s most exciting urban neighborhood of Walker’s Point. Rainy wedding days are grossly underrated, and while the percentage of rain this day was only 20% we happened to have the skies open upon us just after we started taking portraits. The fresh rain, the spring blossoms, and this incredibly fun couple made for some of my most favorite non-traditional wedding portraits.

What do you do if it rains on your wedding day? You grab an umbrella and take it to the streets to make an unforgettable collection of memories. I am so happy that Mike + Kelly didn’t let a little rain keep us from making this beautiful collection of wedding day photos. This lovely couple made Milwaukee their wedding destination wedding as they planned their wedding from the east coast. Having met on UW-Milwaukee’s campus we knew we had to incorporate that special location into our wedding photography timeline. Our original plan went out the window when the weather changed for the worst, but we decided to keep campus as a sweet and private first look. The wedding party happily rolled with the punches and met us downtown where we managed to keep covered and dry before Mike and Kelly tied the knot at a sweet East Side church. After the sweet and intimate ceremony, everyone headed to the Riverside Urban Ecology Center to celebrate the perfect rainy day wedding. Take a peek at all the rainy beauty below!

One of my favorite Milwaukee wedding venues is the Riverside Urban Ecology Center (UEC). I was so thrilled when Caitlin contacted me regarding her and John’s wedding at the UEC. For those who don’t know, the UEC is a natural paradise within the city of Milwaukee that is part of Riverside Park (designed by Frederick Law Olmsted – yes the same as the landscape architect of Central Park in NYC (and many many many more wonderful U.S. parks)!) and houses the eco-friendly “green” building. Caitlin and John share a love of the outdoors so it only made sense to begin their lives together under the canopy of mature trees in Riverside Park. They started their big day with a sweet first look, followed by portraits where their session was photo bombed my monarch butterflies (the nerve!), next a marriage ceremony witnessed by friends and family, and finally the couple celebrated the night away with an enthusiastic dance party. It was a perfect day.

Joe and Lauren’s Performing Arts Center Wedding took place on a beautiful day in downtown Milwaukee. They tied traditional and non-traditional elements into their big day, and that modern combination made this wedding such a joy to photograph.
One of my favorite aspects of their wedding day was how Joe and Lauren incorporated their Kohler-Andrae engagement session into their wedding decor. The invitation suite featured one of my favorite images of the two of them on the sand dune boardwalk overlooking Lake Michigan. Their gorgeous water colored, mouth watering, three tier cake by Sweet Tooth was perfection, and incorporated the colors of the sky and lake from the engagement session. They also had a stunning poster size print made from another stunning engagement session image to welcome guests to the wedding and reception (it looks like a movie poster!!!). Petals completed the look with their bold and bright pops of color against the gold accent color that featured prominently throughout the wedding decor. Keep scrolling to take a peek and see the wonderful inspiration that Joe and Lauren’s wedding has to offer!

Katelyn and Jeremy’s Milwaukee Public Market wedding was one of my most delightfully fun weddings ever! These two were so much fun to work with from the moment I met them for out initial meeting at Colectivo. They had originally planned (and booked) an outdoor wedding, but quickly decided to change to an indoor venue. They decided it was most important to be able to have everyone they loved in attendance in case any inclement weather were to occur. It turns out that they made the right choice. Their wedding day was sticky, humid and oh so very hot. Katelyn was so calm, cool, and collected throughout our outdoor portrait session. The sweetest (sweatiest?) moments were when the bridesmaids took turns airing out the dewy bride. This wedding party was a dream! Everyone was so down to earth and a joy to spend the entire day with, especially the Milwaukee Brewing Company pit stop! The reception took place at the inimitable Milwaukee Public Market where Jeremy surprised his new wife with a serenade on the keyboards! One of the many highlights of the evening! By the end of the evening the newlyweds made me feel like I had known them forever, and I take great pride knowing that I documented their wedding day with nothing but love.
