The beautiful Leone family joined me in Lake Park for their fall family portrait session. This family of 4 has now turned into a family of 5, but just because I am behind on my blogging doesn’t mean I couldn’t post this treasure of a photo session. Milo and Daphne had me in stitches the entire time – they kept us all on our toes with their playful antics.

Trevor, Lindsey and family met me at the East Side’s Riverside Park to embark on a nature walk style family portrait session. Let’s be real, kids don’t love to stand still looking at a camera and cheesin’. So I prefer to encourage an activity that documents the joy of childhood (and familyhood…is that even a word? Well, I deem it one now.) while still squeezing in a few of those quintessential portraits that are always favorites. The mosquitoes may have been thick this humid spring morning, but we managed to get a little tree climbing in and artifact finding before we were eaten alive. So I’ll use this time to remind myself and you (if you’re considering any type of outdoor shoot) to bring sunblock, bug repellent, SNACKS!, and water. Can’t wait to make socially distant photos with you this 2020 season.

There is nothing more beautiful than a newborn photo session. Just look at the proud new parents – see how they beam! Stefanie and Brian are one of my favorite wedding couples, and I am so honored to have been able to capture the newest edition into their home. Documenting such a momentous occasion always makes my heart swell. Just look at this adorable adorable nursery! I love the star wall behind his crib, and all the elephant accessories that perfectly bring such sweet character into the room. Baby Miles has the coziest space full of beautiful natural light and a perfect amount of space to grow into (and how quickly they grow!).

This newborn session is the perfect example of a successful home photo shoot, and it is were I prefer to take newborn photos. Daphne’s nursery wasn’t quite ready, and that was nothing to fret about, because the foyer of this wonderfully restored Wauwatosa bungalow had the most beautiful light and decor. I mean that wallpaper is to die for! Big brother Milo made a brief appearance before nap time beckoned, and hammed it up for the camera, but he most definitely wanted it to be a solo show. With family photos sessions I take on a lifestyle approach, and let the events unfold naturally in front of the lens. Of course I style the location and move arms and legs if needed, but I prefer the real life moments to shine through. Take a peek for yourself.

There is nothing more intimate than being invited into a family’s home to photograph their newest arrival. Welcome baby Weston. He is perfect in every way and Boston Terrier Rufus is delighted to be his big brother. Kristin and Chad have a wonderful vintage farmhouse just outside of Milwaukee, and if I wasn’t there to photograph their newborn you would have caught me capturing the amazing interior design work of the very (and I mean VERY) talented new mom. Their home is as functional as it is stunning – just wait until you see the nursery! Jump right in and take a look for yourself.
The beautifully decorated nursery is so warm, cozy and inviting. This mom has style for miles.
