What do you do if it rains on your wedding day? You grab an umbrella and take it to the streets to make an unforgettable collection of memories. I am so happy that Mike + Kelly didn’t let a little rain keep us from making this beautiful collection of wedding day photos. This lovely couple made Milwaukee their wedding destination wedding as they planned their wedding from the east coast. Having met on UW-Milwaukee’s campus we knew we had to incorporate that special location into our wedding photography timeline. Our original plan went out the window when the weather changed for the worst, but we decided to keep campus as a sweet and private first look. The wedding party happily rolled with the punches and met us downtown where we managed to keep covered and dry before Mike and Kelly tied the knot at a sweet East Side church. After the sweet and intimate ceremony, everyone headed to the Riverside Urban Ecology Center to celebrate the perfect rainy day wedding. Take a peek at all the rainy beauty below!

Joe and Lauren’s Performing Arts Center Wedding took place on a beautiful day in downtown Milwaukee. They tied traditional and non-traditional elements into their big day, and that modern combination made this wedding such a joy to photograph.
One of my favorite aspects of their wedding day was how Joe and Lauren incorporated their Kohler-Andrae engagement session into their wedding decor. The invitation suite featured one of my favorite images of the two of them on the sand dune boardwalk overlooking Lake Michigan. Their gorgeous water colored, mouth watering, three tier cake by Sweet Tooth was perfection, and incorporated the colors of the sky and lake from the engagement session. They also had a stunning poster size print made from another stunning engagement session image to welcome guests to the wedding and reception (it looks like a movie poster!!!). Petals completed the look with their bold and bright pops of color against the gold accent color that featured prominently throughout the wedding decor. Keep scrolling to take a peek and see the wonderful inspiration that Joe and Lauren’s wedding has to offer!

One of my favorite weddings of 2016 was Rita and Tory’s perfectly styled modern soiree. The vision of this intimate affair was created and executed by the bride herself. Rita is a very talented local interior designer so you can imagine that no detail was left to fate. One of my favorite moments of their wedding day was when Tory saw Rita for the first time as she exited the hotel’s vintage taxi cab. After their first look we spent a few minutes taking portraits down the street incorporating Milwaukee’s architecture, playing into Tory’s profession. I loved the simplicity and ease of their wedding ceremony. Rita and Tory walked each other down the aisle and said their “I do’s” in front of their closest friends and family. I am so honored to have been chosen to document Rita and Tory’s intimate and inimitable day.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been over 6 weeks since I photographed the wedding of these high school sweethearts. The day was overcast and moody, but nothing could dampen the spirit of their wedding day. In fact, many people don’t know this, but cloudy days often make for the most beautiful wedding portraits. The light is soft and diffused and there is not a harsh shadow to be found anywhere. Of course, beautiful portraits are just a given with this babealicious (yup, I said it!) twosome. You can see that Ted and Amanda’s love for each other and their family is insurmountable, one of my favorite photos is the one of Amanda’s dad walking her down the aisle, it gets to me – Every. Single. Time. Now, this is a bride who has an eye for details – not even one was left to chance. I could have spent hours alone with her floral arrangements, photographing every single bud and vase. Honest. (Impressions by Esther Fleming is a goddess of the floral kind.) Alright! Enough gushing…take a look and see for yourself!
